Harmonizer Gets a Cover!

Hello again and welcome back to yet another blog post! This is a big update week, but I’ll try to keep things short purely because I am running short on time over here! Who knew that trying to do so much at once results in a person being a little rushed. Let’s get crackin!

Harmonizer’s Cover

It’s done. It’s here. It might get tweaked a little more. Harmonizer finally has a cover so BEHOLD! Your new heroes!

This is the result of over a month of work, and a whole lot of sketching before that. This piece is undoubtedly my best to date, though I expect this will not last as time goes on. I had to learn all kinds of things to bring this to life from highlighting, line work, more character art and proportions, and detailing!

The biggest challenge on this piece by far were the characters. For starters, there are three of them here all in vastly different positions. I had to learn the proportions on all their appendages and really get their angles to come into shape. Additionally, I have NEVER drawn a male character before. I had to actually learn male proportions, which was weird and surprisingly difficult. Another weird thing for me to figure out was the face shape. Vianna’s face was easy because of her angle. The other two, not so much. I’m honestly still not sure I got it quite right, but I’ll have opportunities in the future to fix that!

In terms of content, we have the three main characters of this story! There is Vianna, the main heroine who stands tall and proud at the center. She is a gigantic beefcake of a character! Whereas Sapphiria is more about wits and tactics, Vianna is all anger and brute force, so it’s fun having two stories with drastically different main characters! You’ll notice that her outfit isn’t as clean and pristine as the others, which plays into her story, and she wields the blade Harmony, a mysterious sword that you’ll learn about as the story progresses.

Alongside her is her best friend, Feera. She’s is the small green one and is Vianna’s opposite. She’s effectively a runt, but relies heavily on her smarts to get by. Additionally, she is an incredible alchemist and will prove to be quite pivotal to the overall story!

Also joining her is someone she hates, Garrin. Garrin is actually Vianna’s sister’s boyfriend. He came along on this quest for reasons you’ll learn in the story, and neither he nor Vianna are happy to be working together. However, he brings charisma that their group desperately needs, and his skills with a slingshot are top notch!

Rounding out the content on the piece is the book’s namesake, the tower. Fun fact, this tower is wrong! I made it five segments tall when it should actually be six. WHOOPS! I’ll fix it later! This tower is the centerpiece for the overall story though. Everything will revolve around it from the beginning of the tale to the very end, and we will revisit it many, many times.

I tried my best to bring this scene to life since it’s such a central point to the story. From the flowing, golden grass to the towering mountains of Tan’Tria in the background, every piece of this was carefully considered and lovingly crafted! Hopefully it is a good representation for the story, and I truly hope people are ready to read about this brave new world very, very soon!

Conclusion

YEP! I am concluding it on that note because I have GOT to get started on some of my other projects here, and this is my only chance! So, enjoy the art, admire the characters, and start keeping an eye out for a site update coming around the corner. I would guess that it will drop shortly after Thanksgiving as a prelude to the book’s drop sometime shortly after! With all that being said, cheers!
