December Update!

Surprise! I’m still alive! I’m sure at least one person out there is wondering what happened to the ‘weekly’ blog posts, and… uhh, I will say that I was extremely busy. This past month has been a little bonkers, and some stuff has been going on, but I’m here now and ready to at least provide an update as things tick down to the first of many finales. Let’s go!

Harmonizer

We are nearing the launch of Harmonizer at long last! My goal of a first week in December launch went out the window due to forces mostly outside of my control, but we are looking at it being sometime soon. I am estimating that it will probably be the week after next, so just in time for Christmas! That’ll make for a very weird anniversary time in the future… Oh well. Future problem! Yay!

The cover for Harmonizer is undergoing some tweaks, which is part of where my time has been going, and I’ve been doing one last extra pass to fix some consistency errors I noticed. Along the way, I have found MULTIPLE spelling errors and wrong word autocorrects that I didn’t catch last time, so that’s doing wonders for my anxiety. I’m going more quickly on this pass though, and I have a long weekend coming up that I WILL be taking full advantage of! All of this is to say HARMONIZER SOON! It’s ironic that the first book to get published isn’t even going to be the Sapphire Verdict… Hooray for lessons learned too late, but hey, we’re seemingly on the right path now!

Sapphire Verdict

The Sapphire Verdict part 1 is still in limbo waiting for agents to bite on it. Until I get some responses back, I don’t want to move on it, but that’s fine! While we wait, I am very, VERY far into fixing the Sapphire Verdict part 2! Basically, the first draft of part 2 is… umm, too long. Like, egregiously long and I’m not fixing it type long, so I just restarted it from scratch. Go me.

Now, you may be thinking, “Wouldn’t from scratch take way longer?” Not with the way I work! I have a much easier time starting from scratch than working back from something finished. It’s really hard for me to take stuff out, but if I redo it, I don’t have to worry about removing what’s there because I can separate it in my head. Look, the process works, so don’t question it. It would have been like at least 8 months of editing to cut it down compared to the three months of ‘from scratch’ that we’re looking at now. Basically, Sapphire Verdict part 2 done and fully edited probably by the end of February.

Art Stuff

I will be adding the Harmonizer’s art to the website once the book is actually out. Additionally, the character pages will be getting expanded to have profiles for all these new characters. They will be separated out from the Sapphire Verdict characters, obviously, and some other site updates need to be made. Standby for that. Don’t have a promised date, so we’ll see whenever it happens.

Fun Side Stuff

How about something not book related for once? To try and get away from the computer, I recently REALLY got into Warhammer. Like, I mean addicted. I am an avid collector of things, so when I was shown ‘hobby that involves collecting a lot of things,’ I kinda went full crack addict with it. Whoops. My wallet is much thinner, but I’m having a lot of fun with it!

For the uninitiated, Warhammer is a tabletop wargame. You buy models, you paint the models, and then you make them fight and get real salty when you roll nothing but 1’s on your dice. This is my first foray into the Warhammer universe, and it’s actually kinda funny because… uhh, a lot of the stuff I am seeing reminds me of elements of my own story. Nothing one to one, thank goodness, but there’s a lot of similarities.

Anywho, I had to pick a faction when getting into it, so I went with critters because I like critters! I’ve got way too many Tyranids now and am slowly getting better with them. For context, I have never done ANY painting before in my life. I’ve got like 10 hours into this, and you can see some shots below if you are interested!

Now, you may be wondering why I put this in here at all. Well, it’s because I started doing Warhammer painting because I wanted to learn miniature painting. Why did I want to learn miniature painting you ask? Well… maybe perhaps I want to get some physical book merch stuff made and I’ll need to be able to paint some of it. Time will tell!

Conclusion

That’s all I got! Sorry I was gone for so long, but it’s been REALLY hard to get these blog posts into the schedule. I should be a little better about it in the coming weeks, and then things will level out again at some point. Maybe I need to be doing these on a different day of the week… Actually, that’s probably the answer. Anywho, that’s all I got for now! I’ll be back again (hopefully) next week! Cheers!
