Writing Objectives in the New Year!
Well, we survived the transition into a new year! A lot of weird stuff has happened over the past week, and I have a lot of weird updates and some details about what I’m planning going into the next few months. Let’s get cracking!
The Sapphire Verdict Part 2
Part 2? But part 1 isn’t even out yet! Correct, but… well, this is a long story. Look, I edited part 1, it’s been sitting waiting for me to look at again. I wanted to get part 2 done first in case I went forward with part 1 in its current iteration, not sure that’s happening now. We’re getting somewhere I promise!
So, what’s the update with part 2? It’s 5 days out from being done! Provided nothing weird happens, the final chapter should be written come this time next week! Once that happens, part 2 goes back into the fridge and I pull part 1 back out to begin the process of reviewing it and determining what it’s future will be. Will it go out as is? Will I rewrite it so it lives up to everything I’ve learned over the years? Will it go to amazon, or is it’s home going to lie elsewhere? So many questions, so little time!
Harmonizer Book 2
Book 2 of Harmonizer will be starting shortly and should take about 3 months to turnaround completely if it matches the velocity of the first book. That being said, I do want to get a professional artist to do the cover for it, and it will need to be edited by someone… probably. However, I do not have infinite money. If I cannot get my marketing figured out for Harmonizer: TOG, then I will have to probably do the cover myself again along with the editing, which is fine. I just can’t afford to fling money at a cover artist and editor if it’s not going to turn around in some capacity. Fingers crossed I can figure out the marketing.
Which leads me to another point. A lot of my time is going to get taken away with trying to figure out marketing and how to do outreach stuff, so this could cut into the time I had allotted for writing book 2, or at least reviewing the Sapphire Verdict Part 1. I’ll report back next week because I might have a good idea by then. Wait, might?
A Brand new Elephant in the Room
I am having to effectively ‘evacuate’ my apartment! Hooray! Long story short, a street gang has started moving into my apartment complex, and they are wreaking havoc on my sleep schedule. I’m averaging 2 hours a night, and it’s starting to adversely affect my health and writing ability. These guys don’t have any intention of going anywhere and seem to be multiplying, so I’m having to work on moving out after living here for almost 9 years. I think it’s been nine years at least.
Anywho, I am now busy with packing and getting this place cleaned up as well as finding somewhere else to go, so more hits against my ability to write for the next month. Will my writing stop? Of course not, but it will almost certainly get impacted in some way or another.
Art
Worth bringing up in addition to the Elephant in the Room. Finding time for art lately has been borderline impossible. Additionally, whenever I do find time, I’m usually so overwhelmingly tired that I just can’t do it. I will be getting back to art at some point, but I cannot say for certain when that will be as of right now. Fingers crossed it’s at some point soon, because I really want to get back to it.
Conclusion
Bit quiet this week in some regards, but things will hopefully pick back up once my life stabilizes a little bit. There’s a lot going on for me, but my focus and motivation remains fixated on my stories! Hopefully soon I will have something to show for my research and efforts into marketing and outreach. I will have another post next week, but I’m not sure if it’ll be interesting to everyone or not. We’ll see what the topic is, so, until then… cheers!
