Time Flies!

So, I may have lost complete track of time and forgotten to do a blog post… for multiple weeks in a row now! Between moving and all the other stuff I’m trying to manage for Harmonizer as well as the Sapphire Verdict, it completely slipped my mind to keep this updated, not that I really had anything to update with in between all the other things going on. Well, I’m back now, and I have a new schedule! I should be able to keep a little more on top of this now, so, without further ado, let’s get this ball rolling once again!

Harmonizer: The Lonely Fortress

It is my greatest pleasure to announce that the Lonely Fortress is finally done with its rough draft, which means we are now in the endgame of getting this released! It took a lot longer than I initially plan, but I also hadn’t planned on moving, so I think it’s fair to give myself a pass on this one. With the Lonely Fortress written, I can now finally put out a blurb about what to expect!

Having bested Visunna and saved her sister, Vianna had no intentions of ever being a hero again, but fate takes an unexpected turn when she realizes that her sister’s cure is no longer working! With the Violet Death’s return, Vianna, Garrin, and Feera once again venture back out to the Tower of the Gods to confront Estria only to be faced with a grim truth.

In order to fully cure her sister, Vianna must fulfill her role as the Harmonizer and purge the infection from the planet’s core, and the only way to do that is to clear the path of the remaining Guardians! With a whole slew of new Guardians set before her, Vianna and her friends set out to Tan’tria’s frigid north to hunt Garondar, the first Guardian illuminated by the tower, but her journey will not be as straightforward as it was with Visunna. As they journey, they will learn that not all has been well in the mountains, and the shadow of Steel may well end their journey before it even has a chance to begin!

The Lonely Fortress should be out sometime at the end of May or early June depending on something out of my hands for once! This time, I am working to get an actual professional to do the cover art instead of doing it myself! I’m still in the research stage, and I don’t know how long it will take them, but I’m certain that this will result in a much more high quality product in the end than what I did for The Tower of the Gods!

The Sapphire Verdict

Speaking of other projects in motion, the Sapphire Verdict is once again in progress, this time for good. After finishing Harmonizer, I was left with a LOT to consider. Harmonizer proved that ‘ve learned a lot over the last year, and it made it clear that there were issues with the Sapphire Verdict that editing can’t really fix. My choice was to either send it as is or try and make it compete more with Harmonizer, and so I’ve begun to work on the latter of those two options.

What I’m working on now is effectively a partial rewrite. I spent a lot of time studying the structure of the book and finally identified the part that doesn’t work. After identifying these sections, I determined which chapters needed to be eliminated and marked down what chapters would need to be rewritten to replace them. Now, at long last, I am ready to begin the process of making these replacements.

The Sapphire Verdict will be changing a little as a result. At its core, it’s still the same as before, but with two differences! This time around, Sapphiria isn’t going to be quite so determined to stray away from her engineering, or, rather, Kaden won’t be stopping her. Additionally, a certain green-furred cheerful girl might be playing a much more critical role, which helps cement other events involving her in the future that were planned long, long ago! AT the end of the day, it should be a much stronger story, but regardless of what happens, it WILL be done when this is through!

Art

Despite having limited time to work on much of anything outside my writing, I have managed to carve out time to work on my artistic pursuits! Recently, I’ve been working on trying to do a nearly full body portrait of none other than Vianna. My hope was to replace her portrait on this website with this new rendition, and it’s turning out pretty well so far! I’ve had to learn a LOT to be able to pull this off, and I’m still not quite done with the line work. Soon though, it will be finished, so expect more art to appear on the website sometime soon!

Additionally, of course, we have the cover art for the second Harmonizer book that should be on its way soon! This will involve sketches and line work before it goes to a professional, so expect a decent sketch of what it will probably look like sometime in the next two or so weeks!

Ad Work

Writing a book is apparently the easy part. Getting it to sell and do well is proving to be the hard part. Word of mouth and passive growth no longer seems to be a thing for new authors like it used to be in the past. Now, writing a book seems to involve a ton of advertising, and that’s another pursuit I’ve been working on outside of everything else!

Working on ads isn’t exactly my specialty, so I’m having to do a lot of learning. Even just learning where or how to advertise was a huge first step, and now I know that I need even MORE art to be able to do this properly! There is a lot of work that’s going to need to be done for this, and I have a feeling this is probably going to tie up most of my free time for the next few months. Hopefully by the end of it I’ll actually have some sort of income from this. It would be nice to be able to spend more time writing and less time fretting!

Site Updates When?

I keep talking about this and it keeps NOT HAPPENING! It’s not that I’m avoiding it or trying to put it off. I’m just getting slammed by everything else mentioned above! Making the necessary updates here on the site needs many dedicated hours, and I can’t get those hours because those hours are going towards ads, art, and the final steps for both the Sapphire Verdict AND Harmonizer! I want to sit here and say that you can expect something from the site soon, but I really cant. All I can see is keep your eyes peeled!

Conclusion

I didn’t intend for there to be such a huge void of silence since my last update. Hopefully now we can get more on an even track. I already have plans for a few blogs in the future to coincide with Harmonizer to try and help sell the book, so expect more character and story focused blogs in the near future! For now, that’s all I have, so, as usual…

Cheers!
